UNDER NEW MANAGEMENT
Our all inclusive fishing adventure is a 5 night, 6 day professionally guided Fishing Charter with Accommodation, Transfers* (from Bamaga/ Somerset), Fishing Gear and Meals included.
Our fishing charters are capped at a maximum of 6 guests at the one time, this ensures that you receive the fullest, personal island fishing experience.
Our guides are some of the best in the business.
Extended fishing charters are recommended to be booked at either the end of the dry season, October, November and December or during our wet season, late Feburary through till Late May. Generally around this time of year the wind has died down which gives us a a good chance to hit the relatively untouched areas of The Great Barrier Reef near Albany Island.
If you are flying into Horn Island we can arrange a helicopter or vessel transfer.
Accommodation for the 6 anglers is a twin single room each, they have a ceiling fan and Air Conditioning. All have 240v power points to charge all your accessories. Shared, but separate toilets and showers.
Our vessels are the best blue water fishing boats in the Cape, (Well that's what we reckon). Plenty of shade and open areas to "Pop till you Drop".
Plus we have specialist Fly Fishing vessels and guides who can take you out on the flats or blue water for some incredible experiences
*Exclusions are alcohol as there will be a licensed bar on the island, along with flights from your departure point.
It is no secret that the Coral Sea and the 254 Torres Strait Islands offer some of the world's best blue water and coastal sports fishing, mixed in with superb estuary fishing opportunities in the Jackey Jackey, Escape and Jarine Rivers. Once you see our azure waters and feel our carribean temperatures, you'll know you have landed in paradise.
Albany Island is the perfect base to target some of the world's best sports fishing and fly fishing. Albany Island is the last island adjacent to the East Coast of mainland Australia and just 4km south of the tip of Cape York Peninsular, Pajinka. For those of you who have made the pilgrimage up to the tip, Albany Island is that amazing Island you can see from Somerset Beach.
Albany Island is smack bang in the middle of some of Australia's most inaccessible fishing grounds. Have a look on Google Earth!
To the east of Albany Island is the widest point of the Great Barrier Reef, the world's healthiest and most diverse fishery. If you look south of the island, you will find the Jackey Jackey and Escape systems. And if you look Northwest, you will come across some of the 254 Torres Strait Islands. The closest large town to Albany Island is Port Moresby, we are 1000km north of Cairns, that makes the nearest Maccas about 900km away.
Don't be mistaken. No matter how superb the fishing assets are in the area, it is no fish farm. You still have to work for your dinner. This truly wild fishery has almost zero recreational fishing pressure and very little commercial fishing pressure. We keep what we need for dinner and make sure there is plenty of it.
When we say almost ZERO recreational fishing pressure, it's not a truly scientific measure, but in eight years, we have come across less than ten boats and 2 of them did not have anyone in them.
Australia is a big place, to be sure. What makes Albany Island a little bit more special? It is that you can wake up early to start your fishing day, just a few kms from the first reef; that afternoon, you can be sitting in the boat shed at Albany Island looking back at Australia, partaking in a cold beer or coconut rum cocktail and shit talking with your mates about the one you got and the one they lost!!
We do Bluewater sports fishing, targeting pelagic species such as Spanish mackerel, Barracuda, Queenfish, Cobia, Giant Trevally, Longtail Tuna and more.
If thats not your thing we can always fish the bottom around reefs and nestles in between island and try for species such as Coral Trout, Red Emperor.
